FAQ-Chair: Manage Senior Meta-Reviewers
Why do no papers appear in the Senior Meta-Reviewer Console?
SMRs do not bid on papers. They can bid on Meta-Reviewers when 'Assign paper to senior meta-reviewer through meta-reviewer' is enabled.
How can a Senior Meta-Reviewer write/edit the Meta-Review when the Meta-Reviewer is non-responsive?
Find the unresponsive Meta-Reviewer by filtering the 'Completed' column as 'Completed=0'
Click 'View Meta-Reviews' link
Click 'SUBMIT META-REVIEW' link to submit a Meta-Review on behalf of the Meta-Reviewer.
How do I disable the notification of new discussions for the senior meta-reviewers?
In Senior Meta-Review settings deselect 'Allow receiving discussion notification.'
"Do not use senior meta-reviewer conflict with submission" in the senior meta-reviewer setting is greyed-out. Is there any other way to ignore conflicts between senior meta-reviewers and submissions?
The "Do not use senior meta-reviewer conflict with submission" setting is only enabled when “Assign paper to senior meta-reviewer through meta-reviewer” is selected. When directly assigning SMRs to papers, there is no way to ignore their conflicts with papers. (Assignments can always be adjusted.)
What does the SMR setting “Assign paper to senior meta-reviewer through meta-reviewer” do?
When the setting is enabled, Senior Meta-Reviewers are assigned papers indirectly through Meta-Reviewers. For example if a Senior Meta-Reviewer is assigned to two Meta-Reviewers, the Senior Meta-Reviewer can access non-conflicting papers from both Meta-Reviewers.
How can we assign a Meta-Reviewer to a Senior Meta-Reviewer?
Chairs can import SMR-MR assignments. From "Users -> Senior Meta-Reviewers", Chairs can use the "Actions -> Import Assignments" menu option to import assignments. On the same page, Chairs can also use "More -> Edit Assignments" to edit assignments for individual SMRs.
How can we have a Senior Meta-Reviewer rate submissions?
To enable a Senior Meta-Reviewer to rate submissions, select 'Allow rating submission' under 'Features>Senior Meta-Review' in the Settings tab. The Chair must also let support know the options that are wanted for the rating. A few examples are: SMR-Reject SMR-Borderline SMR-Accept Poster SMR-Accept Oral
How can we have a Senior Meta-Reviewer add a Reviewer to a paper?
To enable a Senior Meta-Reviewer to add a Reviewer to a paper, select 'Allow adding reviewer' under 'Features>Senior Meta-Review' in the Settings tab. You must also deselect ‘Do not allow editing review assignment.’
How can we have a Senior Meta-Reviewer invite a Reviewer to a paper?
To enable a Senior Meta-Reviewer to invite a Reviewer to a paper, select 'Allow inviting non-reviewer user to review submission' under 'Features>Senior Meta-Review' in the Settings tab. This is for inviting users who are not current PC members. If that someone is not a registered user, that person will need to register before accepting invite. If already registered, the person can accept invite directly.
Why can't Senior Meta-Reviewers view the Meta-Reviewers' ratings of reviews?
This setting needs to be enabled by the chair. Also, the Meta-Review Submission activity must be enabled with proper future date for Meta-Reviewers to enter their ratings. Additionally, if everything is set up correctly and there are no ratings to view by the Senior Meta-Reviewers or Chairs, that means the Meta-Reviewers did not enter any ratings.
How to get Senior Meta-Reviewers to be automatically copied on emails from Meta-Reviewers to reviewers?
In the Meta-Review settings page (not the Senior Meta-Review settings) enable the setting 'BCC senior meta-reviewer when emailing reviewer'.
