SCENARIO: Two-Round Reviews
OVERVIEW
A Conference may have a workflow that requires a review of abstracts, and then a separate review of papers.
There are a few ways to do this based upon how the reviews will be conducted.
Solution #1
- The Chair reviews the abstracts and decides if the papers are eligible for full paper submission.
- Reviewers do not review abstracts at this stage.
Workflow (Changes in 'Settings' are bolded)
1. The Chair configures the Submission form to only allow abstract (required) and not allow file upload.
2. The Chair enables both “New Paper Submission” and “Edit Paper Submission” activities with proper dates.
3. After the Paper deadline, the Chair goes through the Papers and mark them as ‘Desk Reject.’
4. The Chair notifies authors of ‘Desk Reject’ papers.
5. The Chair sends emails to Authors of Non-Desk Reject papers, requesting them to submit a full paper.
6. The Chair re-configures the Submission form to allow file upload.
7. The Chair re-enables both “New Paper Submission” and “Edit Paper Submission” activities with proper dates.
8. Authors of Non-Desk Reject papers edit their Submissions to upload a full paper.
9. The Chair assigns Non-Desk Reject papers to Reviewers.
Solution #2
- The Reviewers will review the abstracts.
- The Reviewers remain assign to the same papers
- The Chair decides which papers are eligible for a full paper submission based on reviews.
Important
DO NOT ADD OR MODIFY REVIEW QUESTIONS.
If there are Review questions that have been added or modified, there will be no way for the chair to discern which reviewers completed the new questions and which have not.
